Monthaut Exhibition

Once again I will be exhibitiong at The Lovely Gallery. Monthaut will be showing from Thursday 1st – 18th November. See below for details.

Bob stones’ exhibition comprises three subjects, the first, landscapes looking towards the Pyrenees from near his base in the Aude for 29 years. Painted throughout the spring and summer of 2017 and the related subject painted 2018, of the nearby chateau of Monthaut. Not an elaborate Loire chateau, more defensively Languedocian. Starkly simple and imposing with the vestiges of earlier structures left like ghosts in the walls, much in the way a painters marks are evidence of the works realisation. The third subject explores through oil painting, gesso and charcoal drawing, the erotic landscape of the bodies of Indian Khajuraho temple art. It is through reworking of the motif, through familiarity that surprise and audacity occurs. Throughout the work stresses the importance of touch, drawing and colour.
